The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 本来以为是普通的校园爱情故事没想到意外还不错😲整体的镜头感都好压。色调也很沉。很容易对影片有一些先入为主的感觉。
有点像《七月与安生》，东亚特有的压抑疯批和青春期混乱感，看得有点难受，但是挺好看的。男主颜值和演技都不太够。很喜欢圆脸拽妹x害羞女孩。亲亲和床戏很美。
做得还不错？虽然人物设定简单，剧情冲突简单，就是一个普普通通的小故事。迷家的设定戳中我了，但是这个故事主线根本不需要迷家……这可能是让故事如此单薄的原因吧？在不需要的副线上开枝散叶大卖画面和设定，结果并没有起到丰富整体剧情的目的。就是一个宁静的童话。（嘛，用了一些有意思的神话元素还行，河童可爱诶）

整部片子给人一种宁静、岁月静好的感觉，观影过程中仿佛时间停止了，与如今这个快节奏焦虑内卷的社会氛围形成鲜明对比，很想活在这部电影里。
温馨治愈之作，而且结合了我最喜欢的怪谈题材，画风也很美，推荐。剧情中后期进展非常快，可以说是一直处于“哇哦”状态，结局略潦草。群像塑造比较平平，但是三个人和奇妙物的互动很可爱。
勉强4星，剧情拖沓，床戏很硬核看得捂脸
坚定的去做力所能及的小事，就能驱散焦虑和恐惧。
后半段在看的时候觉得略垮，可能是主观上觉得太乱了，但仔细想想会觉得这个结尾收得非常高明，也符合逻辑。在看的刹那间能被猛烈冲击到，回味起来又觉得有温情在弥漫。
每次回忆都很晕，故事一般般吧，和神奇生物的讲解也不多
忘记悲伤，忘记过去，才能更好地往前走呀。 一切都会好的。

我这是看了个寂寞啊...
有点玄幻片的感觉，哈哈哈哈，真是出乎意料啊。治愈片得以为是夏目友人帐，但是又有很大差别。
节奏太慢了，剧情也没什么起伏。大概是中日文化差别太大了，感觉不能投入其中。但也会让人想起中学时候的往事，或许十年前我会更喜欢这部电影。总体来说不难看，但也没有动力向人推荐的一部电影。
