Moving to Portland, Oregon and finding work in food service is easy for Paul and Ramona. A struggling musician without bandmates, Paul becomes introverted and moody. Ramona's friend from college introduces her to a new social circle and she goes out while Paul stays home. When Ramona confronts turning thirty, it's time to grow beyond old routines and her relationship with Paul comes to a head.
Paul and Ramona, a young couple in need of a change, move to Portland, Oregon from their hometown of Boise. Upon arriving, they sublet an apartment and begin to familiarize themselves with the city. While finding work is easy (Ramona begins waitressing, while Paul gets a job at a coffee shop), change is difficult. Their life in this new city seems to be on repeat. When their car breaks down and a tandem bicycle becomes their primary means of transportation, Ramona refuses to ride.
A struggling musician, Paul, spends most of his time at home, steadily becoming introverted and moody, while Ramona, at the insistence of a co-worker, is thrust into a new social circle, where she begins an affair with a co-worker. Ramona and Paul’s relationship implodes after she confesses and in the ensuing conflict, she impulsively leaves to stay with a friend. Paul, desperate to work through the pain of the split, befriends a quirky barista named Ali. This friendship gives him a chance to begin to heal and inspires him to focus on expression through his music.

艺术家的半自传式音乐剧，节奏与嵌套的结构挺有趣，连对音乐不很敏感的我都不觉得很闷。
哎，太戳了，29岁还在等待机会的剧作家，到底该怎么坚持下去。这里头的歌我都挺喜欢的，日常小灵感捕捉而成的小歌很多，加菲演和唱都相当努力，久违的baby V一开口我就仿佛回到那个夏天。LMM第一次当导演，感觉那种死线逼近的感觉做紧凑一点会更好。
很好看，是我喜欢的类型，LMM再一次正中我口味。马上迎来30岁、“想红要趁早”的焦虑，ddl逼近却写不出歌的崩溃，女友关于要不要搬去另一座城市的逼问，从小一块长大的好基友得了艾滋病的绝望...一切如同火烧眉毛交织在一起，而影片的呈现却并不显得凌乱。舞台与现实的无缝衔接，迸发出很感染人的戏剧张力，这就是天才音乐剧人的故事感和节奏感吧。片子里的歌都好好听啊！！又一张可以加入循环曲目的电影bgm。加菲虽然胶原蛋白流失了，但让我更加刮目相看，好莱坞真心没有花瓶，曾经的偶像小生也这么会唱会演。
艺术门类大融合的流媒体年代，更能看出各门艺术类型独立存在的意义。某种跨界的“壁”，不是调试视听语言、精简叙事节奏就能轻松突破的——更何况，如这般自信的“创作者”所钟爱的，就是用所谓原汁原味的懒惰挑战双边的水准。
论游泳的重要性；叙述挺有意思，剪辑手法让故事生动有趣，节奏流畅。3.5
看完还是没有很了解Jonathan Larson
对加菲刮目相看，他竟然把JL演活了，让我看到一个苦苦挣扎的天才的喜怒哀乐。Larson到死都没有看到自己的大作搬上百老汇的舞台，但是他的Rent改写了百老汇音乐剧的历史，也是当年我大学时期一群志同道合好友的精神激励。Lin-Manuel复原了当年Larson表演Tick Tick Boom的场景，表演与现实交织，以一种现代音乐剧电影不浮夸的风格将大时代与小人生的冲撞表现得不动声色。我不是一个会被情怀拐骗的观众，这绝对是一部可以成为经典的音乐剧电影。
7.5/10。很巧，一天看两部音乐、传记类。对比的话，一群会唱歌的演员形成的化学反应，压过了如果没有本人感人故事就会沦为普通过生平的记录。
我觉得加菲是我今年看过的所有歌舞片里最好的非音乐剧出身的演员了，不过他和希普的声音还是跟哈金斯没法比。
最喜欢亚历山德拉·希普的嗓音。
最后有点感人，加菲老了但露出脆弱一面的时候还是像小朋友
影片结尾，拉森却重整旗鼓，开始创作《吉屋出租》。就是这个瞬间，对我的冲击力太大了。看完影片我其实不会觉得拉森可怜，甚至有些羡慕他。
哭崩溃了……对rent无感的我，却在这两个小时里不断被rent的每个人物每个情节冲击。roger，mark，angel，mimi……他纪念了他们每一个人，他们永在。
更明白滴答滴答嘣，明白心底倒数的走针声。
林聚聚导演的第一部电影长片，能为自己的偶像拍这样一部电影，让更多人了解他、记住他，一定是一件很幸福的事情。
将歌舞成功嵌进了情节里，而不仅仅是停留在了简单的插入，人物情绪的展现更是非常丰满，充分把舞台的效果发挥出来，加菲的表演抓住了人物对梦想的坚持和对舞台的奉献，情绪的表达很到位，唱功也真的好。（8/10）
近年来为数不多的好歌舞片之一 加菲卖力卖唱 LMM delivers a stellar show (okay I do wonder how much breaking the fourth wall with musical numbers makes this piece less of a film)
音乐真的很棒，然而搞艺术其实跟做学术也很类似，你要写了一部（篇）又一部（篇），也不知道哪天可以成功……
关于创作焦虑的部分还是拍的挺准的，但整体还是太平庸了。
