The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 极度缺乏睡眠时逼自己去大银幕第一次看这位，结果睡了40分钟打破了个人记录（电脑上重看统计了时间）。如此直白地强调metaphor和emotion却和Titane位于两个极端，采访里自述更像note而非影像与台词里的“Better with conceptual art”的自嘲足以表明态度，不如将对形式的反对上升到纯文字的“高度”。尽管配乐、希腊外景与室内戏打光、中景特写的切换和所有手术场景的运动是为数不多的亮点且对话和全景甚至拍得像花絮，在电脑上补完后依然觉得值得为概念加半星，有种转瞬即逝的内在诗意。认可度终于成功从dream is the new sex转向surgery！

比起《钛》在视觉上更丰富，但整部电影从内容到结构都近似于一个当代艺术馆——我觉得极媚虚无又高傲的东西。柯南伯格是一个对待概念极其粗暴但对待影像又如匠人般精细的导演。
当身体被大张旗鼓的切开，手术刀不再是工具，而是性器官的延伸。于是每个人都渴望躺上那个诡异的床，期待被切开，被深入。人体是不甘于只作为艺术的画布，它有自己的想法，于是进化出了“新人类”。
