The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. “你是否蔑视你的政府？”“与我的政府对我的藐视相比我的藐视不值一提。”美国的60年代是一个黑暗却充满希望的年代，虽然黑暗，但人们充满了追求光明的力气和反抗黑暗的激情—60年代是理想主义风起云涌的年代。《芝加哥七君子的审判》带我们再次回到60年代，也许只是想让我们重拾那个年代以鲜血为代价留给我们的遗产：永远抵抗权力机器对个体的碾压，永远反对体制对思想的审判。权力的侵蚀无处不在，所以个人的权利是每个人寸土必争、绝不退让的东西。

历史是任人打扮的小姑娘，电影中的历史是，电影本身也是，时过境迁，蒙娜丽莎都有千万种神态。
阴谋与公正，强权与抗争，法庭上的激烈争锋，还好是正义走到了最终。故事跌宕起伏，节奏紧张紧凑，群像表演丰富，人物刻画成功。“与我的国家对我的藐视相比，我的藐视不值一提”艾比.霍夫曼的这句话太精彩了！
NetFlixe再一次交出一張工整優越的成績單。
看的时候还在感慨，我从来都不知道我们法庭的秩序规则和流程。而且作为公民我对政治的看法就是没有参与感，更确切说是自己对政治没有敏感度，而在国外，他们把这看得极其重要。
有点不像Aaron的感觉了，演员阵容真的很不错，要没他们，恐怕会比茉莉还要垮。美式主旋律现在面临巨大危机，都到连索金都无法挽救的地步了。个人觉得，索金还是专注美剧吧，电影真的需要非常适合他的题材，否则就是这个不上不下的样子，毕竟是舞台出来的，对镜头语言还缺乏一些空间上的想象。
四星半，种族、女权、反战一锅端，很有奥斯卡相，如果不是结尾的“好莱坞式”结局，可以给五星。萨沙拜伦科恩不搞笑起来也挺有魅力的。
这个世界需要反抗和不同的声音，需要我们动脑去实现真正的民主和自由。哪怕反抗在“公平公正”面前一文不值，但是也依旧需要批判这个依旧病态的社会。
看到最后整个人都在发抖…
