The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 我再也不说咱们手撕鬼子那样神剧了比起这部片长三小时的宝莱坞巨制史诗电影来说那都浮云。宝莱坞歌舞为我们抒写了可歌可泣的抗英大戏就如《赛德克·巴莱》剧情加歌舞和夸张武打效果真阿三脑洞也领我佩服，升格实在太多了！

就上半部还在究着心弦想着两个人什么时候撕的，下半场就一起抗敌了，当然啊，没有一起怎么能取得胜利，印度悬浮high片的典型之作，狗血至极，但就还行吧。

我对历史题材小说改编的电影总是很宽容，不需要逻辑严谨，最后能圆出一个好玩的结局就行。是配乐和镜头语言把这部电影救回及格线的，小酒馆聚会和牛津派对又弄成美则美矣的鸡肋了，最后俩男主分食一根烟怪浪漫的，谁让我就是喜欢这种cliche。把女性角色塑造成隐藏辅助才是年代剧的正确打开方式，三个女人各有各的坚韧与勇敢，同时也起到了不可或缺的作用。吐槽女性角色还不如吐槽男主，性格如白纸做主线任务能力又差，简直独自carry起观众的血压。总而言之，当个剧情/惊悚故事看看得了，品一品人间真情（“希望就是等待别人救你，所以最好不要”），非要求不偏不倚也太蛋疼了吧。
无脑爽片。印度版战狼里也有个西方女主。骨子里同样的不自信。
慕尼黑阴谋将「绥靖」推向了顶峰，这正是加速第二次世界大战的主要原因。历史的进程与战争的结果就摆在那里，影片的结局可想而知，虚构的角色与杜撰的故事嵌套进现实，无非是完成了导演本人或一部分人对张伯伦的人物评价。至于对此接受赞同与否其实并不重要，毕竟存在争议也算作历史人物的影响力之一，况且自由的观点输出是每个人的权力，本片也可谓中肯了。说回电影，政要们的权宜斗争中，“小人物”的政治立场和密谋活跃于舞台之上，形成了大时局下的一种交汇视角及参与经验，这就展示了作品的反思精神和文本的原创精神。

正史中描写虚拟人物的故事。也许并不假，只是未被看到并写出。剧情并不需要如此叨叨唠唠的。有点长了。
