The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 贾静雯太美了🥲 人物塑造和演绎的太好了 疫情的切入点很巧 隔离使人失常 不是一日之寒 却是压倒骆驼的最后一根稻草 比阳光普照更真实动人
唯一好的是贾静雯演精神状态不好的时候口罩都没戴好的，但状态坏与不太坏之间非常游离，最后的蓄势没足够，女儿的突然离逝冲击不够，反而觉得女儿解放了
最近的确流了太多眼泪了，谢谢钟孟宏，谢谢电影。我也相信阳光会再照进来，糟糕的抑郁会过去，然后不时会再下起雨。晴晴雨雨的，人生就是这么一回事。
从阳光普照，再到这部，我彻底认同钟孟宏了，电影背景是疫情下台北一对母女的状态，瞄准女性，确实空间更大，因为女性身上更有东西说。演技方面也很有展现的空间，很多场景都是带着口罩的，只能用眉头和眼睛来表现。最后母女在不同空间的对话很精彩，母亲担心着女儿，女儿的衣服上的字是don't sweat it。生活一定是最艰难的，可是未来怎么样谁能知道呢？
我喜欢。4星。1星给王净。王净真的是太棒了。
经过了一些撕裂与阵痛，过去的生活被断然切割，但是新的生活还在继续，“重要的不是痊愈，而是带病生存。”
3.5，前面的矛盾，精神疾病，到一点点变好，其实都还在可承受范围内，结尾的事件过于突如其来了。都说是熬的鸡汤，加上结尾的事件，却又更有一种，生活不可能如你所料的一帆风顺的感觉。“don't sweat it”
我们有妈妈，有女儿，有阿姨，有姐姐，有妹妹，有女医生，有女朋友，有女同学，我们会穿过瀑布，我们会在洪水中活下来。
故事不错，有点压抑。陈主任，出镜几分钟也很精华，不知道我有没有荣幸，以后给钟孟宏导演补张电影票？
母女俩困守彼此、相爱相杀的表象之外，更有着急转直下的大小情势，两人拉扯着转入满盘皆输的跌停板，从浑然不觉到逐渐沦陷，再到岌岌可危……凯撒身中数刀，无助振作奋起，保卫滩头阵地……
出乎意料地喜欢。不安、未知、突然，像极了我的2021。就是会有很多的不确定性，在原本以为走向平静美好生活之后，突如其来的灾难，多么想找个人问问“为什么是我”，但不是因为是你，而是刚好你在。没有人有那么多的特殊，皮囊、声音、思念，故事在流淌。失语，“不要问我你还好吗，我会想办法快点好起来跟你一起好好生活的”，语言不过巧言令色，母女二人对幸福生活的努力瘦最令人动容的。魏如萱唱歌真好听啊，应该还要陈珊妮的版本？配乐极佳。瀑布之后，还有溪流。
小溪与河流汇聚成瀑布倾泻而下，然后又形成新的小溪与河流。平静的生活迎来新的打击与挑战，但你不要总问我“你还好吗”，我会努力变好然后和你一起生活下去。到底生活是什么样？人该活成什么样？品质与阶层的坠落不代表人性的坠落，看到小静从灾难中重新爬起缓缓前进，那一声“小静”不仅仅是母亲的呼唤，也是导演对于深受疫情打击的世界重新振作的美好期待吧。
在隱喻的層面做得還不夠極致，在日常生活的表現又過於呆板，可惜了一個很好的大背景下書寫家庭小故事的文本，究其原因是沒有完整統一的美學風格，大白話翻譯過來就是：沒想明白最終想要的是什麼。
虽然算不上是什么佳作，但台湾近年来这类型的片子拿捏的很好，本片前20分钟我以为会是一部比较温暖的亲情片，但越看画风越诡异，直到最后野外烤肉那5分钟，整个人都跟着剧情变得揪心了起来。贾静雯演失心疯还是挺让人发寒的。

当他们母女坐在公交上，我突然觉得，是不是应该生一个小孩，如此懂事，将来如若生病，可以被照顾，可以依赖。
高楼盖上了蓝色的装修布，为了隔离人们戴起了蓝色口罩，窦加有着缤纷美感的画也就褪成了一片单调的蓝色。疫情可能不是生活崩溃的根本原因，但为其长久累积的引线提供了火苗，生活在疫情时代像瀑布一样断层式倾覆。后半段剧情实在没必要整个生活还是会好起来的积极走向，还加了个俗套的结尾，按前半段《画魂》的感觉拍全片会好很多。Don't sweat it.
还好台湾电影是算作华语片的。贾静雯全片输出，火力全开，
落差。结尾也还是未能免俗，反向瀑布了一把，略抓马。无病呻吟也好不痛不痒也罢，台湾电影总还是能叫人心变得柔软的。
突然戳中的泪点 不禁想问 好好活下去怎么就这么难；一首《抉择》选得真棒 也不乏同伯格曼《假面》《野草莓》一样的元素
