The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 这个阵容让电影行进到了一个奇怪的走向，片方尽力的想让黄政民不再杀神附体以走极尽的写实风，但总体却是平淡无奇。反派演技出色，脸普通，导演或许想传达一种罪犯极有可能就是身边不起眼的人的视角，以至于放着丁青的对头都不让他来演反派。
和《不要抬头》一样的政治讽刺佳作，点出了多少美国问题：三届奥运冠军只能在家剪优惠券，所有坏事都是中国干的，用时薪2美元压榨邻居墨西哥，只关心毒品军火的FBI官僚习气、比买菜还容易的枪支买卖、混乱的执法体系、过度使用暴力、无处不在的消费主义……顺便，如果所有白人女性都有女主这个生育意愿，MAGA就不是梦了
