The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 除了硬塞进来的政治正确外毫无新意的翻拍，故事也讲得啰里啰唆毫无吸引力。
这改编得没有想象中好看。给波洛加了感情戏，人设和原著也有点偏差，感觉波洛的聪明、幽默、绅士没有展现得淋漓尽致。整个就是观光宣传片，景色更美。剧情推进比较慢，后面案件发生后有一种草草收尾的感觉。留下的印象就是，只有一具具尸体的出现，没有突出人物关系的矛盾，死得无关痛痒似的。节奏太平缓了，没有掀起惊涛骇浪。

毫无疑问肯爵爷是个波洛迷，在众多影视版追求“探案”大主题时，肯爵爷和BBC都不约而同的为这位举世闻名的波洛探长安插感情戏和心理戏份，追求人物的塑造，但却丢掉了波洛原本的模样，纯纯的跑偏了路，而现实口碑也表示了，观众更喜欢那个滑稽、博学多才的小老头，而不是苦大深仇的大胡子保镖。影片和上部一样，服化道上下了功夫，质感十足，但缺点也一致，缺乏探案剧的核心“推理与侦破”，完全像是过家家一般，同时与四十多年前的老版相比，片中的人物无趣且滥情。肯爵爷自己确实演过瘾了，但观众受罪了。
跟上世纪的那版完全不一样。可以看。上世纪那版进入主线的时间还长。

整体色调风格很是让人喜欢，为了展现波洛逻辑能力，还安排了一场战争，细节！波洛的优雅很让人舒服，语速，远景，近景特写，表现力不错！女侠死的不值，抢了女朋友的男朋友却没想到人家打的只是你的财物而已！因为只是看了一遍，剩下几个为了灭口被杀也就算了，只是没明白为什么不给波洛讲？看看其他大神是怎么分析的！
大为震惊，这是自2019年烧女图后，我再一次在大银幕见到女同性恋，久违了。可能是因为实在突发奇想且毫无热度所以侥幸存活，成为内地大银幕第一对有名份的女同。
求求肯尼思放过阿加莎吧。。。。腿中枪那里实在太假了！！！！虽然已经知道事情的来龙去脉，但看到这么假的一幕还是觉得非常泄气，而且虽然谋杀前的铺垫啰嗦，但该讲的人物关系一点都没讲。。。不是众矢之的那杀手根本没法隐藏啊。。。。埃及风景也廉价。另外富家女也太惨了吧！凭啥结了婚自己就失去了遗产继承权要全部交给教母和老公？？？？夺取财产简直轻而易举，这还不直接成了活靶子？？？？
此外肯尼斯作为老牌导演，摄影的功底相当深厚，电影的诸多运镜与构图比东方快车更加惊艳。
Jacqueline在电影里合着就是为爱疯狂的疯子，而Simon想拿钱，Linnet在电影前一小时的铺垫太长了，甚至开头画面才是最好看的，但是，Poirot被塑造成这样，就感情用事？缜密的推理成了他没分析出来，又有人死了，然后互相抱怨他还没找出凶手，Bouc死的时候附近都没人，侦探都能直接一起干掉。
怒打一星！出来骗钱就不要打着阿婆的旗号了吧。
准备花钱买票的朋友，改成花钱买书吧！［尼罗河上的惨案］比《尼罗河上的惨案》里描写的尼罗河上的惨案还惨！
不说和1978年版比了，就是和肯尼思·布拉纳2017年《东方快车谋杀案》比都差了一截，缺少气氛，剧情散漫拖拉，尤其是开场黑白影像那一段，真心觉得画蛇添足。唯一值得称赞的是它的服化。
改编成了一个“爱男人不得善终，搞拉拉才能活命”的故事。
怀疑就是全部卡司加编剧导演等人想公费集体去埃及豪华游一趟而已，除了埃及美景，实在是没有任何可取之处了

太讨厌了。比布拉纳爵士无休止地执导阿婆电影更讨厌的是，他自己没完没了地扮演菠萝。比让菠萝成为一个情圣更讨厌的是，在讯问嫌疑人的时候他竟然会大声呵斥直接指责每一个人，wtf！
我要暴走了！！！比东方还烂！别祸害这些经典了好吗？
