The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 给满分了，非常喜欢西部片，一看开头就知道结尾，但是这个片子还是非常让人惊喜，不输经典，西部片里程上，又一个让人不的不提的一部片子，非常喜欢
好久没看过这么硬核的正统味道的西部片了，点赞

这类西部片子我好有一比，就象中国古代的律诗或者八股文（优秀的那种），都是一个完整的小故事成功塑造一个人物，起承转合结构一板一眼的，精巧如同导演系毕业生的设计作品，可以平均高分，也不够特别出彩。
看的时候想起藤泽周平的武士小说，默默无闻的小人物，受困于艰辛生活，性格懦弱，被家人看不起，但其实是一个身怀绝技的侠客！
男人的咆哮，生死予夺的枪声。弱肉强食的丛林法则。
好精彩的故事，虽然低成本，但是真的很好了。这可能就是老亨利最好的结局——至少死后有人收尸。不过他儿子终究还是杀了人，不过那又是另一个故事了。

这电影前半部分多不错，干净利落，败笔全在最后的反转啊。①老亨利前面杀人那么的干脆利落，怎么会被一个受伤的翻拍追着给击伤了？枪战之后，居然放松了警惕，跟人设不符啊。②最后才发现那人胳膊上有标志。说明，老亨利以前就知道黑社会的人身上总有一些什么奇怪的标志的。那么，作为江湖老手，刚把这个人救回来的时候，难道不应该对其全身进行检查吗？如此警惕性高的人，居然被忽悠了。。③前面杀人的片段确实看得很爽，也把老亨利的人设给立住了，但后面的死实在的窝囊透顶了。。④既然老亨利都已经放弃江湖恩怨十几年了，打算安享晚年了，从他不让儿子学习射击就可以看出来，不想参合进江湖恩怨之中，那是铁了心的，为何开始还会去救那个人呢？？？⑤老亨利如此厉害的人设，养了这么一个白痴一样的儿子？
虽然慢热，但人物塑造都很一般啊，情节发展也比较简单

沾了比利小子的传奇光芒，但影片的观赏性并不强，尚且不如《大地惊雷》
简单粗暴的绝世神枪手，就喜欢这样的比利小子。
西部爽片，节奏把握不错，渐入佳境很吸引人。
快意恩仇的江湖又回来了。在蛮荒的时代，弱肉强食，当决定放下屠刀重新作人，在那荒野深处，可谁知，一次的恻隐之心，却又把自己拉回到江湖，如果一直凶残下去，会如何？江湖中闻风丧胆？拯救自己，和拯救他人，在蛮荒的江湖，有时候就是生死的抉择。好久没看过这么这么爽快的片子了！
