The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 看之前就预感会喜欢，结果发现比之前想的更好。比起“行为”，性更像一种“媒介”或“载体”，基于此有了相互观念的碰撞。冲突点设置得很自然，没有俗套的露水情人动真心，而是女性自我意识的觉醒与性工作者对自己身份的正视。接纳情欲，正视愉悦，拥抱自身年老的躯体，于是最终达成了不由男性给予的真正高潮。最后在镜子前勇敢露出身体的Emma太好了。虽然在咖啡厅向学生坦言在我看来还是用力过猛了些（，但简中何时才能拍这种电影啊。
男主被拍得太美艳了吧，真的就是想要的样子！哈哈哈哈
趁着要去现场前补了。虽然是鸡汤但是很喜欢，尤其是疫情加上二十年的特殊日子。好喜欢舞台和各位的表演，非常有生命力，让人落泪又不过度煽情🥰

其实电影里一直在强调，leo就是一个fantasy，不必当真。现实生活里，那些找鸭的女的可能在疯狂砸钱做私处保养被pua。最好笑的是女主去探寻leo真实身份，并试图了解，不就是性转版的劝人从良第一步嘛。实在很失望，女性对自我探索的实现还要通过男的这一客体，这不就是男权思路的那一套吗。唯一区别就是，女的还在担心冒犯男的。
最后的半小时有点过于正面积极主旋律，让人有点情绪上接不住之外，前面的编排太妙了，简简单单的一些小动作，就可以勾勒出飞机上，户外，学校里，市议会各种场景，好厉害啊
7，感谢Apple，感慨舞台和音乐的魔力，故事简单风趣又真诚平实，歌曲稍逊色大概只有三首比较出色，同样是让几十年前的记忆保持鲜活，国内影视行业应该好好学习一下，911的影视舞台歌曲作品层出不穷，发掘新视角塑造真情实感很重要

没多大新意的911团结一家主旋律音乐剧电影，穿插了太多没意义的内容，整体显得很碎。
四星给美丽童话，多一星是给共情。看到女主仿佛看到亲密关系中的自己：十分爱judge别人，一紧张反而变得更加硬邦邦，话痨又很强装理性……理性害我！这个角色还必须爱玛来演，她那种聪明劲儿加重了这种对于自己性魅力的自卑，缺一不可。最后一脱真的震撼，面对不再美丽的肉体而不judge自己，真的需要莫大勇气
我只想说四个字，职业素养。虽然有点鸡汤，但互相以温暖，互相以分享。暖心又有趣。

一个禁忌的话题，两个善良敏感的人。女性困境（不止是老年）、成为母亲的羁绊、正在衰老的身体不断提醒着女主要在有限时间里遵从内心的活着。从下单性服务却拧巴退缩，Nancy与Leo诉说着彼此的经历，互相取笑对方糟糕的母子关系、以及那些人生中的期盼与遗憾，两个角色的关系一直不断的流动。影片最后，终于达到高潮的Nancy看着镜中已不再曼妙的身姿，终于放下了不安和拧巴，此时此刻她的眼睛里有光。
