The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 【3.5】我宣布以后看见所有美国华裔拍的亚裔题材影片我都得绕着走。真的完美踩中我的每一个雷区。有好的想法，但完全不懂节制，各种小聪明小幽默毫无节制一而再再而三地滥用，一个梗能给你反复玩十几二十次；再加上这片梗的密度本来就大，所以最后出来的结果就像是每隔两分钟就强迫你灌下一碗加入了世界上所有的调料的白开水，喝到你吐…再加上陈词滥调到令人翻白眼的揉杂美式价值观ABC式家庭戏码和令人眼花缭乱的糟糕美术，我真的…全程如坐针毡直想喊救命🆘欣赏不来，非常不🉑️
本宇宙最朋克的亚裔电影 / 不止于母女亲情 感觉只要对某人某事还有一丝丝留念 就不至于nothing matters吧 在这内核之外涉及到的东西很多 站在不同人的角度会有不同的看法就也难怪评论里有些张口就来的不伦不类
【A】表面新奇，实则陈旧，最终质朴的多元宇宙。又或者说，「多元宇宙」早已不是什么值得被吹捧崇拜的新概念，在众多作品里被呈现、改写、戏谑、重演，曾经代表一切可能的词语如今早已化作单一发展的固有套路。正如大伙预料的那样，枯燥生活中由单一选择变动所引发的无限可能，最终仍受现实景观和设定堆叠的约束，在虚无主义和家庭关系间摇摆不定，也让其叫嚣的无限可能性成了空想。但节奏不会委曲求全，一切癫狂、重口且嚣张的匹配剪辑便是为此而存在，某种程度上拯救了不断趋于俗套的电影，真正赋予其疯狂的语境。Z世代已无需通过电影来习得那些和稀泥式的生活哲理，那观看意义又何在？或许身处银幕的延伸、动作的承接与岩石的碰撞之间，观众可以在那些主流价值观的裂痕里挖掘出无法言说的能量，并创造出真正能由自我定义的多元宇宙。
感动得要死。如果电影界不能一直杀出这种今敏、两丹这样的宅男，再多99部《教父》也没意义（有说《教父）好的意思）
可能只有香蕉人会感动，毕竟伟大的白人眼里终于有他们了。
bgm又多又吵，女儿和老公不论是台词还是演技都烂到我难以忍受
1.《妈的多重宇宙》比《瞬息全宇宙》翻译更信雅达，很符合本片的大脑洞和恶趣味。很多人都是被石头那段破防，其实赛博外公从追杀到保护妈妈那段也很赞。平行宇宙的外壳下，包裹着妈妈拯救女儿，祖孙三代亲情和解的柔软内核。
这不是电影，是命好题目的短视频集合。列好框架，一直打磨往里面加散装素材，最后扣题，太生硬，太学生了。

最喜欢她俩变成石头的时候，没有人要求你必须做点什么，可是人就想要不停地做些什么，其实本来也就没有必要一直做些什么；
无厘头，被剪辑搞得有些摸不着头绪。剧情要表达的思想不多，宛如棉花糖，看似花团锦簇，实则入口空虚。
"Just be a rock"！好喜欢那些突然冒出来的dildo、butt plug、热狗手指等恶趣味元素，怎么讲，一锅阖家友爱的鸡汤里偷偷放了好多跳跳糖的感觉！

最后近年华裔形象让我看到了原本生活在带清底层的劳工固守封建残余在🇺🇸价值观的冲击下会发展成什么鬼样子，捞比的孩子继续捞比，有你m的优越感呢？当然不包括拐零那样的天龙人。
从什么鬼到卧槽到迷之感动再到我的天呐，像是听了一整张亚逼hyperpop soundcloud mixtape。说得矫情点就是用无比当下的方式讲了一个亘古不变的故事。“反派”的设计太有创意了我愿称之为“hypervillain”。能看到这样的电影让我感到活在今天真好。“bedroom vfx supervisor”今后也是个值得关注的动向了吧。There is no rule！（哪怕你schizo了一圈最后都post-human了你却还是“你”，老套但有用
学渣理解中的多元宇宙就像被毕加索误读的汤姆森和爱因斯坦，徒剩满屏裂碎，可毕加索好歹对着追问敢于朝天放枪，这部电影却偏偏还要絮叨地自圆其说，连石头都不允许沉默（还奢谈什么爱的包容呢）。
看看隔壁Morbius, Lost City, Uncharted之流，票房扑街的背后是灵感的枯竭。这几年好莱坞热衷于拥抱各种主义、各种套路、各种公式，已经逐渐被反噬。很久没有在大荧幕上看到这种喷薄而出的创意和天马行空了。把东方元素演绎的又丝毫不做作，把简单内核描绘的丝毫不刻意。如果今年能有比这更好的片子，那该是得有多好。
看了5天才看完，豆瓣推出负一星吧，只有负一星才能治疗我看这片尬出的内伤，脚趾抓地把家里的地板都抓坏了
