The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 在这里我要控诉一下淘票票的买座不能有空座规定，我进影厅的时候四个人，一对情侣，我还有另一位男士，我走到座上时难以置信地反复确定票面：8排1。而另一位独自来看电影的男士就坐在8排2。
赶快结束吧 设定也用光了，创意枯竭了剧情也变得俗套…

系列收官之作，作为老粉，多少有点失望。剧情依旧是围绕家庭展开，往好了说是内核没变，还是轻松搞笑、爆米花娱乐片的路线；往贬义说是换汤不换药，少了亚当·桑德勒的配音，德古拉没了灵魂。还好幽默又有创意的怪物角色让人难忘，给个及格分吧。
看完开头的故事，再看一下简介，就知道故事情节了，也就不追了。#20220628

精灵不知不觉到了第4部，依然无脑嗨 哈哈哈
一直是《精灵旅社》的粉丝，但是这一部真的很疲软了。笑料依旧，小男主依旧惹人烦，可是最大的问题，在于创意不足。没有新角色，甚至没有新萌物，简单的身份对调，套路又没有深度，完全没有惊喜，可以当做无事发生。
好弱智的剧情啊！！！就这也能拍个电影？？？？？and原来西岛秀俊不是反派啊

很多年之前看的前作，很多具体剧情已经记不清了。其实大结局的故事乏善可陈，但是还是蛮适合打完工之后看着轻松欢笑一下。
这个系列简直了..
知道为什么拍大结局，因为拍不动了。不过能坚持四部也不容易了。

风格真是一以贯之了，夸张的人物行为和剧情，虽然很闹腾不过风格本就如此，剧情比较偏低幼。故事内容就还是常见的公路冒险片了，但是这一家人的故事是不是可以就此完结了，不想看他们每一次就成长这么点了hhhh
因故，在影院看了半部。
